Here is an overview of the sonata form. 



Now a few pointers about analyzing tonal music.  This is the type of analysis that we're going to be doing this semester:



There are two score files associated with this lesson.  The first shows the entire keyboard score in a clean format (with no markings).  The second shows the same page with red boxes outlining the chord changes that take place in the piece.  The blue-marked sections of the second file represent repetition that you should match up--between the Exposition and the Recapitulation.

Your assignment is to put a roman numeral for all of the red boxes.  When you get to the Development Section, look at the next video for some pointers.
